The Cooperative Model
A worker cooperative is a business that is owned and democratically governed by the people who work there.
In a traditional business, the workers do the work and the owners make the decisions. In a cooperative, the workers are the owners. They share in the profits, help make important decisions, and have a direct stake in the long-term success of the business.
In short:
The people doing the work are the people making the decisions.
So why are we doing it this way?
After years working in bars and restaurants, we noticed something: the people who know the customers best are rarely the people deciding how a business is run.
The bartenders know the regulars. The cooks know what works in the kitchen. The staff understands the neighborhood. Yet major decisions are often made by people who rarely interact with the customers or the community the business serves.
We think there's a better way.
By giving workers ownership and a voice in the future of the business, we believe we can create a stronger workplace, a better customer experience, and a deeper connection to the community around us.
We'll keep ownership local, share profits with employees, support local farms, breweries, distilleries, and wineries, and reinvest in the neighborhoods that support us.
We're not just reopening a bar.
We're building a community—and making sure the people who build it share in its success.
